George Enescu Festival

„KMG International”, under the brand of „Rompetrol”,  continues to be the main partner of the International Festival „George Enescu”, one of the most awaited events that promotes classical music and the cultural values of Romania. The Festival will take place between 2 and 24 of September 2017 in various concert halls in Bucharest, as well as in other major cities of Romania, with over 3 000 artists from over 80 countries.

The activities supported by „KMG International” within this year’s edition include the Festival’s closing gala and the concert of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam which will take place at the Grand Palace Hall on Sunday at  8 p.m., September 24th. Part of the „Great Orchestras of the World” series, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam is considered one of the best orchestras worldwide due to its unique sound made possible with the help of the 120 players from over 20 countries.

A record number of 37 works created by George Enescu, two of which will be presented for the first time during the Festival, will be interpreted by renowned orchestras such as Orchestra Dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and La Scala di Milano. The opening gala concert will be held by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski, with a cast that includes famous Romanian tenor Marius Vlad Budoiu.

This year’s edition will be under the patronge of a new concept: light. Starting from this concept, classical music and technology will be intertwined so that renowned works will be seen in a new perspective.

The International Forum of Composers, the first of its kind worldwide, will gather 30 of the most influential contemporary composers in order to hold discussions with the grand audience and to open new perspectives to the contemporary music universe. Another important moment is represented by the interactive exposition on music and mathematics, part of the project „Creative Bucharest”, where the public will have the possibility to interact with works of art that show how technology can be put to the service of art.

The partnership signed in 2010 by „KMG International” and the organizers of the „George Enescu” Festival and Competition represents a commitment to sustain the evolution of culture in Romania with the help of local and international virtuoso musicians.
