Zhanat Tussupbekov, the new CEO of the Rompetrol Group

In accordance with the decision of the Sole Shareholder of the Rompetrol Group – the Kazakh company KazMunayGas – starting from the 21st of May the new Group CEO is Zhanat Tussupbekov. Till the present moment the position was held by Saduokhas Meraliyev, who will continue carrying out his activity in Rompetrol as a member of the Managing Board.

“This change is natural and it ends a major stage of the Rompetrol Group development – performing and finalization of the program of increasing the processing capacity of the Petromidia refinery up to 5 million tons of raw material, consolidation and optimization of operations, as well as the Group integration within KMG. So, all necessary premises have been created for continuing the plan of KMG presence expansion in the region of the Black Sea and in the Western Europe”, Lyazzat Kiinov declares, the President of KazMunayGas.

Zhanat Tussupbekov was born in 1977. He is the graduate of the Law Studies Department of the Karaganda State University and of the Economical Studies Department of the Gumilev Eurasian University. Mr. Tussupbekov also has a Master’s degree in Chemical Technology of Organic Substances, obtained in Kazakhstan Technology and Business University.

The new Group CEO works in the field of oil and gas since 2005 and during this period he held the positions of executive director and deputy CEO for the retail segment of the company Trade House KazMunayGaz (at the present moment – KazMunayGas – Refining & Marketing), as well as CEO of KazMunayGas Onimderi – a company dealing with sales of petroleum products on the territory of Kazakhstan through its own network of fuels distribution. The last position held by Mr. Tussupbekov was the CEO of KazMunayGas – Refining & Marketing.

 

 

 

Alongside with the appointment of the new CEO, some other managerial changes have been occurred within the Group – Timur Azimov will hold the position of Trading Vice-President and Azamat Zhangulov was appointed as deputy CEO for financial issues.
Being a part of KazMunayGas – the oil & gas national company of Kazakhstan – the Rompetrol Group is an international oil company headquartered in Amsterdam (Netherlands), presented in 12 countries. The majority of assets and operations are located in Romania, France, Spain and South-Eastern Europe. The company set the target to become one of the most important petroleum companies in Europe and to consolidate its position in the basins of the Black and Mediterranean seas.

The Black Sea region became a development platform for KMG activities both through the Rompetrol Group and through the extension of activities, carried out by subsidiary companies. At the end of the last year KMG trough Kazmortransflot – the Kazakhstan national company for marine transport – has purchased 2 oil tanks of Aframax type (115,000 tdw) in order to initiate and maintain crude oil and petroleum products transporting operations in the Black and Mediterranean seas.
