Rompetrol starts drilling within the perimeter of Zegujani

The Rompetrol Group, through its subsidiary Rompetrol SA- Exploration and Production division, recently started drilling a deep exploration in Zegujani block, part of Group strategy on upstream activity growth, planned for the existing activities in Romania. The investments for this block would be over USD 10 million during this year and will be targeted on in order to evaluate the oil & gas potential for deep geological formation. “Rompetrol has an experience of over 30 years in oil & gas exploration and production and in providing well services, but Upstream activity growth, planned for the existing in Romania, within those 5 perimeters of the Group and in providing services for its partners is a naturally evolution. With the support of our sole shareholder - KazMunayGas, we would like to consolidate in the next period our presence in the Black Sea area, as well as to continue investments within the perimeters held in concession”, declares Gheorghe Georgescu, the Director of Rompetrol SA. The well Lupsa – SAT 1 is located near the village Samarinesti (county Gorj) and was designed to reach the depth of 4,200 meters. The company is titleholder of this concession agreement since since 2004. In 2012, the company has also started driling operations within Focsani block, according with the concession agreement since 2005. Furthermore, in other concessions, Satu Mare, Gresu and Nereju, the company is carrying out exploration program in partnership. Rompetrol has a portfolio of well services in Romania, Libya, Kazakhstan, the strategic objectives being for both the consolidation of its position on these markets and the implementation of new projects in North Africa and Middle East.
