The first tree planting action this year took place in the vicinity of the Vega refinery, on a linear area of 1.1 km, in partnership with the town hall of Blejoi commune.
Plantations contribute to the capture of carbon dioxide, forests being among the most important CO2 deposits. It is estimated that each tree planted at maturity neutralizes an average of 5.5 kg of carbon dioxide per year. This approach contributes to three objectives of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: (13) Climate Action, (15) Life on Land and (17) Partnerships for the Goals.
In the context of the coronavirus pandemic, the works in Blejoi were carried out mechanized, in compliance with all sanitary rules.
Other similar steps will be taken in the next period, also in Prahova County, on an area of 8 hectares.
