Astana City Festival hosted by the Village Museum Dimitrie Gusti

It takes place from June 29th through July 1st, at the Village Museum Dimitrie Gusti and brings to the public a unique photo exhibition, a traditional yurt.

“It is our great joy to continue to present our nation through cultural partnerships on photographic projects like this one hosted by Dimitrie Gusti Museum, or cinema – our collaboration with the French Institute on the Kazakh Film Festival, all expressing the history and evolution of our society. Both Kazakh and Romanians have similar authentic and fascinating backgrounds, and curiosity for cultural diversity. We hope this glimpse of Kazakhstan will fascinate and enjoy the visitors.” – explained H.E. Daulet Batrashev, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Romania.

“We have been a partner of the Romanian state and a major strategic investor in the local industry and economy for more than 10 years. We succeeded to consolidate an energy bridge between Romania and Kazakhstan and created strong business partnerships. With this event, we get even further and strengthen our cultural bonds. Culture is one of our direction of support (and the long-term partnership for George Enescu International Festival and Contest stands proof), as well as environment and healthcare.” Alexey Golovin - Vice-President of KMG International.

Astana, located on the banks of Ishim River, became the capital city of Kazakhstan in 1997, and since then has developed economically into one of the most modernized cities in Central Asia, with futuristic-looking buildings designed by world famous architects and exceeding 1 million inhabitants. The capital city is the headquarters of state-owned companies such as Samruk Kazyna, KazMunayGas, and also foreign corporations.

Expo 2017 in Astana opened on June 10, being the first world's fair to be held in Central Asia and its central pavilion, Nur Alem, being the largest spherical building in the world. More than 4 million people visited the exhibition.

“The National Village Museum Dimitrie Gusti is more than a museum; it’s a cultural ambassador building bridges between civilizations and implicitly, between people and peoples. Last week we carried the flag of friendship in the Netherlands and to lively Rome, Italy, carrying the Romanian traditions which are part of the European cultural heritage. Today we are pushing the boundaries of Europe towards East, to a special and friend country – the Republic of Kazakhstan. We feel honored to consolidate our friendship and host Kazakhstan in one of the uniques sights of Bucharest – the National Village Museum” – general manager of the museum, Univ. Conf. Dr. Paula Popoiu.
