The second edition of Kazakh Film Festival to be hosted in Cinema Elvire Popesco

The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Romania, in collaboration with KMG International, offers film enthusiasts the second edition of Kazakh Film Festival. One of largest event of its kind in Europe, the festival takes place from September 29 through October 01, at Cinema Elvire Popesco (The French Institute).

 

“The event is organized on the occasion of 25 years of independence of Kazakhstan. It is our great joy to continue to present our nation through the cinema screen, expressing the history and evolution of our society. Both Kazakh and Romanians have similar authentic and fascinating backgrounds, defined by struggles for modernity and successful transformation of our states.” – explained H.E. Daulet Batrashev, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Romania.

The program of the festival includes 5-film projections produced by Kazakh directors, one of them in French coproduction - “La voix des steppes” with Gerard Depardieu and Natalie Dessay, which depict over 500 years of Kazakhstan’s rich history and culture and various themes such as family bonds, love, loneliness, heroism, solidarity and the fight for freedom.  

 

During the 3 days of the festival, the public will have the opportunity to watch the following films: TheVoice of the Steppe, So the Stars Aligned, The Gift to Stalin, The Old Man, and Kunanbai.
